The Nutcracker was performed in El Salvador by the Ballet Company of El Salvador accompanied by the Youth Symphony Orchestra. The ballet staging of The Nutcracker dazzled in the two shows made at the President Theater, which were made on December 7th and 8th, filling up the stage and the audience with magic, dance and above all, Christmas spirit. The performance was staged and directed by the dance teacher Alcira Alonso, Director of the Ballet Foundation in El Salvador and the musical direction was in charge of Martin Jorge, Director Emeritus of the Youth Symphony Orchestra and came to the country just to direct this play. Also, it counted with stelar performances by the dancers Lucía Figueroa as Sugar Plum Fairy, Cristhian Lazo as the Nutcracker Prince, Marcela Meléndez interpreted Clara, Joaquín Rendon as Drosselmeyer, María Vairo as the Snow Queen, Ana Lucia Quinteros as the Flower Queen and Ivan Quisqui who was the Mouse King.
The alliance between the Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Ballet Foundation of El Salvador is a great sociocultural project in the country. It was confirm by the public’s was immediate response, there was a sellout on each show demonstrating that El Salvador has talent on the dance industry.
